The chase continued into the intersection of Transcontinental Drive and Quincy Street until the suspect’s car stopped working.
The suspect, a Metairie man, refused to get out of the vehicle. JPSO deputies said that an officer sustained “minor lacerations” when they were “forced to break the driver’s window” to get him out of the car. JPSO deputies had to tase the suspect to take him into custody.
According to JPSO, the deputy was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is reported to be in “stable condition.” The driver of the uninvolved vehicle and the suspect were taken to a hospital for injuries related to the crash.
The JPSO reported that the suspect will face multiple charges, which include resisting an officer, aggravated assault of a peace officer and aggravated flight.
