Real estat e mogul Sergio Pino, 67, who was accused of poisoning his wife and hiring an assassin to kill her, was found dead at his multimillion-dollar home this week.

Pino reportedly died from an “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound” during an FBI raid at his residence in Florida, according to local law enforcement officials. The raid, which occurred Tuesday morning, was in connection to the bureau's "ongoing murder-for-hire investigation" looking into allegations from his wife, Tatiana, who said he poisoned her with fentanyl on numerous occasions.

The accusations were made known in the former couple's divorce proceedings, in which she also filed claims of arson and stalking. He had yet to be charged with a crime .

Pino started the real estate firm Century Homebuilders Group in the Miami-Dade area. Five miles outside of Miami, near Coral Gates, the mogul was discovered dead in an upstairs bedroom from what FBI agents described as a "possible self-inflicted gunshot wound."

The U.S. Sun was informed by Pino's lawyer Sam Rabin that his death was a suicide. "Sergio Pino took his own life today," Rabin said in a statement slamming how law enforcement handled the raid.

"The level of law enforcement activity at his residence was unprecedented and unnecessary, especially since we had offered to surrender him should that have become necessary. Today’s events mark a very tragic ending to an investigation that we were confident we could successfully defend."

"There were many rumors and allegations but what was lacking was evidence." Agents reportedly removed safes, three boxes of paperwork, and devices from the house, according to ABC affiliate WPLG.

"Periodic flash-bangs" were apparently heard by the Local 10 source during the SWAT team's operation. That morning, authorities had carried out another raid at 9720 Bel Air Drive in Miami as part of the murder-for-hire investigation, during which they had made an arrest.

"The subject was arrested without incident and a search of that location was conducted," officials said in a statement, adding that no further information about the location will be released at this time.

According to court documents, four persons have already been taken into custody in relation to the case as part of a "stalking conspiracy". Among the men taken into custody was Sergio's former worker, Bayron Bennett. Bennett is said to have worked on the Pinos' yacht in an FBI affidavit.

According to court records, in August 2023, Bennett was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run outside Tatiana's residence. After 32 years of marriage, Tatiana filed for divorce from Sergio in April 2022.

According to the divorce papers, she started experiencing health issues in 2019 or 2020. Testing conducted at that time "found fentanyl in her system and bath salts in her medications," according to Tatiana's attorney, Raymond J. Rafool, who spoke with WPLG.
