Fans Unite In Agreement On Anthony Edwards After Shocking NBA Draft Trade

With the No. 8 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs selected Kentucky guard Rob Dillingham.

Following the draft pick, the Spurs caused a stir by trading Dillingham to the Minnesota Timberwolves. This move effectively paired him with Anthony Edwards, catching many off guard with this unexpected trade.

The Timberwolves have the No. 27 overall pick in the draft and were able to acquire Dillingham without having to trade away this pick. Instead, they surrendered an unprotected first-round pick in 2031 and agreed to a pick swap in 2030 to the Spurs.

The plan is for Dillingham to be Mike Conley's replacement when he leaves the Timberwolves. Conley will be 37 years old by the time next season starts and is nearing the end of his long career.

In one year at Kentucky, Dillingham was one of the best freshmen in the country. He was named the SEC Sixth Man of the Year and was selected to the SEC All-Freshman team. In 32 college games, Dillingham averaged 15.2 points on 47.5% shooting and 44.4% from three. He will be a huge offensive upgrade for the Timberwolves.
