2-year-old found dead inside car in Monticello

News 12 has learned that police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old child inside a car Tuesday in Monticello. Monticello police say they got a 911 call at 6:43 p.m. of a child in cardiac arrest inside a vehicle outside building 14 at the Hollow Apartments on Terri Lane. Officials say efforts to save the child were unsuccessful and that they were pronounced dead at the scene. News 12 was there while authorities were investigating and saw a car seat on the pavement outside of the vehicle. Sources tell News 12 that the child died after being left inside the hot vehicle, a Ford Explorer, for more than an hour – however authorities have not confirmed. State police are handling the investigation. News 12 has calls out to authorities for more information. "
