Waterloo officers justified in deadly shooting, Iowa AG office says
WATERLOO, Iowa (KGAN) — Waterloo police officers were legally justified in shooting and killing John Carl Piazza on March 25. Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) said Piazza went into Kuennen’s Automotive Clinic that day, pointed a gun at an employee's face and later fired a shot on the property.

Several Waverly-Shell Rock softball players have been named All-Conference in the school’s final season in the Northeast Iowa Conference. On 1st Team was: pitcher Maya Willey, infielder Megan Heyer and outfielders Natalie Beck and Sally Gade. On 2nd Team was: catcher Kaysey Fox, Infielder Emma Thompson and utility player Jillian Diercks. Waverly-Shell Rock was the conference champion.

Apartment Building Next To Fire Station Starts On Fire
(Waterloo, IA) -- Residents of an apartment building next to a fire station in Waterloo were displaced after a fire broke out. The fire started in Apt. 7 at 1702 Main Street. Crews were able to rescue a woman from a second-story window using a ladder. The other residents were able to evacuate safely.

Washington Shocked by Central Lee in Softball Region Semis
The Washington Demons had their softball season end in a 5-4 loss to Central Lee Saturday night in the Class 3A Region 8 semifinals. Central Lee broke a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the fourth inning, but Washington got back-to-back base hits with two outs from senior Rylee Libe and junior Lauren Hinrichsen to take the lead in the bottom half.
