"Unfortunately, Democrats like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have made life miserable for law enforcement," Bird said. "They treat police like criminals and criminals like victims. The director of the Iowa Department for the Blind is resigning as she battles kidney cancer, she said Tuesday. Emily Wharton has served as the department's director since 2016. Prior to that, she served as the department's technology director. Wharton, who is blind, also is a former graduate of the department's Iowa Blindness Empowerment and Independence Center.

Conference Mediations for Charles City, Decorah, Waverly-Shell Rock Wednesday (07.17)
The futures of what will eventually be three former Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) schools could be decided by state officials starting Wednesday (07.17). Charles City, Decorah and Waverly-Shell Rock (WSR) are all headed for mediation in separate efforts to join new conferences starting with the 2025-26 school year. Moves precipitated with the NEIC set to dissolve after the 2024-25 school year after current league members New Hampton, Cresco-Crestwood, and Waukon have opted to join the Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) starting July 1, 2025.

BELLE PLAINE, Iowa (KCRG) - Inside Drahos Shoe Store, on Main Street in Belle Plaine, lives generations of knowledge. “My grandfather was a Shoemaker in Bohemia. In 1904, he immigrated to the US. He was 17 years old. He had $22.60 in his pocket,” says Dan Drahos, the current owner and operator of Drahos Shoe Store.
