Former Green Bay Packers and New York Jets wide receiver Randall Cobb and his family escaped what could have been a much more tragic situation than it already was after his Nashville, Tennessee home caught fire on Tuesday.
Cobb’s wife, Aiyda, posted details of the even in an Instagram story, explaining that a Tesla charger in the garage was the cause of the fire that quickly spread and engulfed the family’s house.
“We are lucky to be alive,” she wrote . “The Tesla charger caught on fire in the garage late last night and quickly spread. We got out of the house with nothing but the clothes on our back and no shoes on our feet. I'll explain more later but posting this in case I miss any appts, calls, texts, meetings. Thank you GOD.”
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (12) and wide receiver Randall Cobb (18) leave the field after losing to the Detroit Lions 20-16 during their football game on Sunday, January, 8, 2023 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis.

On his personal Instagram page, Cobb posted photos and video of the damage, which was mostly to his cars, and he disclosed that all family members, including their three sons and family dog Louie, made it out safely.
“I can’t get the image of the brave firefighter getting into position out of my head,” Cobb wrote. “He didn’t even have water to shoot yet. I truly thought the cars were going to explode and that we would lose him to this tragedy.”
Cobb is currently a free agent. He spent 10 seasons with the Packers and longtime friend Aaron Rodgers, along with one-year stints with the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans before signing with the Jets last season to reunite with Rodgers.
The 33-year-old has logged 630 receptions, 7,624 yards and 54 touchdowns in his career, and he made the Pro Bowl in 2014.
