NOPD reports 1 hospitalized in Canal street shooting

NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — A person has been sent to the hospital in the evening on Tuesday, July 2, following a Canal street shooting.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, a case of aggravated battery by shooting occurred in the 800 block of Canal street. The victim, who has not yet been identified, sustained at least one gunshot wound to the body and was taken to a local hospital by New Orleans Emergency Services.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and there are no further details available at this time. Updates will be provided as new information arises.
