Spencer Rattler Could Create His Fantasy Status In 2024

Spencer Rattler was projected to be a number one overall pick after his 2020 freshman campaign, during which he torched college football. Overall, he came back to earth, finishing his career with 900 completions on 1313 attempts (68.5 completion rate) for 10807 yards (8.2 yards per attempt), 77 touchdowns, and 32 interceptions. He also added 297 attempts for 410 yards (1.4 yards per attempt) and 16 touchdowns on the ground.

He lands in New Orleans and is desperate to find a franchise signal caller to build their future around. Derek Carr is tough as nails, and he fought through many injuries last season to varying degrees of success. Before Week 15, Carr had three QB1 finishes (10,9, 11), then he rattled off three high-level QB1 performances (26.32, 31.96, 35.16 points in a 6-point passing TD league).

The point of this is that if Carr is going to play like he did during these weeks Rattler will not see the field, if Carr is more like the way he played during the rest of the season the Saints will have no choice but to give Rattler a chance. Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara are fine weapons, but everything after them is very suspect AT. Perry, Rasheed Shaheed, and Bub Means have potential but have yet to prove anything consistent. Their offensive line has potential as well but has injury concerns.

Dennis Allen has yet to prove himself a capable head coach. Rattler has shown that he can put together a productive season with big-play potential. Consistency has been an issue, but there is a path for him to get starter reps this season. If you need to add to your quarterback room, getting Rattler anywhere in the third is a smart play.
