Liberty Standout Addresses Quadruple-Teaming Angel Reese to Cease Historic Streak

The New York Liberty went viral last Saturday when they put an end to Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese's consecutive double-double streak of 15 games, which set a WNBA record.

Although it wasn't just the fact that they ended Reese's historic streak; it was the way in which they ended it.

Namely, by them quadruple-teaming the "Chi Barbie" in the game's final possession so that she wouldn't score the last two points necessary to keep the streak going.

And Liberty guard Kennedy Burke spoke with Sports Illustrated about what went in to this intense defensive strategy at the end of last Saturday's WNBA game.

"We were just working until the end of the game and we didn't want her to score," Burke said about the Reese quadrulpe-team.

"We're just playing defense, I didn't know there was four people around her. I think, in that whole game, we were able to be a defensive threat. In that moment, that's what we did."

What's for sure is that Burke and her Liberty teammates made it abundantly clear that they did not intend for Angel Reese to keep her historic double-double streak going on their watch.
