    Crew steals nearly $50K in merch from athletic wear stores across NYC

    NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Police are searching for a group of suspects accused of stealing nearly $50,000 in merch from athletic wear stores in a string of robberies across New York City since May.

    The first incident happened just before 3 p.m. on Friday, May 24, when eight suspects entered the Snipes store located at 1414 Kings Highway in Madison and stole approximately $4,951 worth of clothing.

    The group fled in a white Infiniti in an unknown direction.

    Just before 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, four suspects entered the Snipes store located at 2135 Ralph Ave. in Georgetown and stole approximately $4,480 worth of clothing.

    They fled on foot in an unknown direction.

    The third incident happened at about 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 23. According to officials five suspects entered the Snipes store located at 25 Westchester Sq. and stole approximately $6,000 worth of clothing.

    The group fled in a gray Dodge Caravan in an unknown direction.

    The next incident happened at about 3 p.m. on Friday, June 28, when six suspects entered the JD Sports store located at 90-15 Queens Blvd. and stole approximately $9,810 worth of clothing before fleeing in a gray Minivan in an unknown direction.

    A fifth incident occurred just before 2 p.m. on Monday, July 8. Six suspects entered the Snipes store located at 2196 Bartow Ave. in Baychester and took approximately $2,778 worth of clothing then fled in a gray Dodge Caravan in an unknown direction.

    At approximately 3 p.m. on Monday, July 8, six suspects entered the Footlocker store located at 1586 Westchester Ave. in Soundview and stole approximately $11,425 worth of clothing.

    They fled in a gray Dodge Caravan in an unknown direction, officials said.

    At approximately 1:30 p.m., on Monday, July 12, two suspects entered the same Footlocker and stole about $2,470 worth of clothing then fled in a gray Honda sedan in an unknown direction.

    An eighth incident happened at approximately 2: 45 p.m. on Sunday, July 14. Five suspects entered the Snipes store located at 2181 White Plains Rd. in Pelham Parkway and stole approximately $2518 worth of clothing, police said.

    The suspects then fled in a light-colored Cadillac Escalade in an unknown direction.

    At approximately 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, six suspects entered the Snipes store located at 1959 Turnbull Ave. in Soundview and stole approximately $2,935 worth of clothing then fled in a gray SUV in an unknown direction.

    According to officials, six suspects entered the Snipes store located at 1959 Turnbull Ave. in Soundview and stole approximately $2,935 worth of clothing before fleeing in a gray SUV in an unknown direction.

    The suspects sought are approximately 21-29 years old, officials said.
