Man dead after firearm was discharged in Carroll County gun store.

A man is dead after a firearm discharged at a gun shop in Carroll County, according to a release from Kentucky State Police.

KSP Post 5 personnel responded to a call that came in about 8:30 p.m. Saturday regarding a shooting in a gun shop at 1496 Whites Run Road, the release stated. When personnel arrived, Chad Wainscott, 50, was being treated for a gunshot wound.

According to police: A firearm discharged one round while another customer was looking and manipulating it. Other customers tried to save his life, but he died from his injuries once he was taken to the hospital. The person who had the firearm that discharged is cooperating and witnesses were interviewed.

Foul play is not suspected and no charges are pending in connection with the shooting.
