TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – There are many exciting things to see at the Vigo County Fair. One of those is the 4-H Exhibit Hall.

With the Vigo County Fair underway, there has never been a better time to learn about 4-H. The Hs stand for head, health, heart, and hands, but 4-H youth development educator Emily Brown says it provides an abundance of opportunities for kids in grades 3-12.

“4-H teaches STEM,” Brown said. “We do a lot of rocketry, we do woodworking, welding, blacksmithing. We do healthy living, we also do leadership and community service and serving your community.”

The cost is only $15 per year, and kids who recently chose to participate have great things to say about the experience of 4-H at the fair. Two-year member Benjamin Higgins says that he wants others to get involved.

“I think they should join,” Higgins said. “It’s fun, you get to stay here, hang out, take care of your pig. If you want to sell it you get to sell your pig.”

The 4-H Exhibit Hall will be open from noon to 9 p.m. every day with livestock barns full of animals.
