Davante Adams could be reunited with quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the coming weeks, former NFL quarterback turned commentator Boomer Esiason predicted.

Speaking on "Boomer & Gio" on July 15, Esiason said he has heard that the Las Vegas Raiders could ship the unhappy star receiver to the New York Jets sometime in the late summer. A trade to the Jets would allow Adams to reunite with his former Green Bay Packers teammate, but would also come at a high cost to the Raiders, Esiason said.

“The dead cap for the Raiders this year is $40 million [if they traded him]. I’m hearing that this is gonna happen - if it does happen - in late August or early September,” Esaison said, via Audacy.com . “And the cap hit for him is $25 million."

Adams made waves in an appearance on "Receiver" where he aired frustrations with the Raiders and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Esaison added that he doesn't believe Adams will publicly demand a trade, but could work behind the scenes to arrange a move back to his former quarterback.

“I’m not sure about why it would take that long, but Davante is never going to come out publicly and say ‘I want to leave the Raiders,' " Esiason said. "But you hear in this ‘Receiver’ program, where he says ‘I gotta get out of here before I get killed.’ He says that. That leads the viewer to believe that he wants out of [Vegas]. But I don’t see him saying that publicly…I could see him saying to his agent, much like he did in Green Bay, the same type of thing.”
