16-year-old shot and killed in Vallejo Wednesday night

VALLEJO, Calif. ( KRON ) — Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy Wednesday night, according to the Vallejo Police Department.

At around 11:30 p.m., the teen was shot near the corner of Carolina and Butte streets, police said. Responding officers provided aid to the boy before medical personnel arrived and took over, VPD said.

The 16-year-old succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Police remained at the shooting scene through Thursday morning for the investigation. Police tape closed off the area’s roadways and dozens of numbered evidence markers were seen placed in the street.

No motive in the shooting was released by police, and officials are not sure if the homicide was gang-related. Vallejo PD did not share any information on a suspect or suspects.

The shooting death is Vallejo’s 12th homicide of 2024, according to police.
