WNBA Legend Sheryl Swoopes Catches Viral Stray After Caitlin Clark Comment Proved Wrong

Sheryl Swoopes is one of the greatest women's basketball players of all time.

She won three straight WNBA MVP awards and helped carry the Houston Comets to four titles across her career, which earned her a 2016 induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Swoopes has done nearly everything right in her career. But she was very wrong about Caitlin Clark.

Swoopes went viral in January for harsh words she directed at Clark during an appearance on "Gil's Arena" .

"Will Caitlin Clark come into the WNBA and do what she's doing right now? Absolutely not. Not gonna happen," Swoopes said.

Clark has now entered the WNBA — and is doing what she did at Iowa.

While Clark isn't scoring at the same rate, every other aspect of her game has not only translated into the pro game, but also improved immensely.

Which is why one Clark fan called Swoopes out for her comments on X.

X user @Jay_3shifty wrote, "Personally I feel like Sheryl Swoops is the only person I feel genuinely has hated on Caitlin Clark" on Sunday.

The post has nearly 130,000 views.

While Swoopes has since walked her words back, she'll never live them down in the eyes of Clark's fanbase.
