WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Howard Hutchinson, the president of the Veteran Providers’ Coalition of Sedgwick County , and Tonya Buckingham, Sedgwick County Register of Deeds , joined KSN News on Monday to talk about veteran services and the upcoming Veterans Awareness Expo, which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the WSU Metroplex.

The Sedgwick County Register of Deeds Office will be in attendance to file original DD214 discharge papers and issue discount cards.

The office files at DD214 for free and provides five certified copies. The DD214 proves the veteran was honorably discharged and gives him/her access to the military benefits they’ve earned. The office also safeguards the document in case the original is lost or destroyed – in a tornado or house fire.

The office also has a Veteran & Military Discount Card Program that aims to assist veterans by providing opportunities to save money at local establishments. To learn more, click here.

The Register of Deeds office is located at the Ruffin Building, 100 N. Broadway, Suite 105. It is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To contact the office call 316-660-9400.
