On Wednesday, the New England Patriots returned to their practice fields behind Gillette Stadium for the first time since mandatory minicamp wrapped up in early June.

At this stage of camp, Patriots players aren't wearing pads, but there's still plenty to see, as the players compete in individual, 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills.

Here's a bit of what was seen by those in attendance in Foxboro this morning:

    Participation/Attendance

The only players not taking part in Wednesday's session were those on various lists - wide receiver Kendrick Bourne (PUP), guard Cole Strange (PUP), linebacker Sione Takitaki (PUP), center Jake Andrews (PUP) and running backs Terrell Jennings (PUP) and Antonio Gibson (NFI).

DeMario Douglas didn't participate in team drills.

    News/Notes

Jacoby Brissett got the starting reps with Bailey Zappe originally getting the backup reps in the first drills, but Maye took over as the second quarterback after that.

Matthew Judon and Davon Godchaux, who were both thought to be potential hold-ins due to their contract situations, were on the field and participating.

Kyle Dugger recorded the first interception of camp, as Brissett was a bit off on a pass to K.J. Osborn and caught the ball off of a deflection from Jonathon Jones.

Calvin Anderson got the first reps at right tackle in 11-on-11 drills while Michael Onwenu worked at right guard.

Maye finished first 11-on-11 completing both of his passes and taking a sack.

Austin Hooper made a diving catch on a pass from Jacoby Brissett, and Maye connected with Jalen Reagor for a 50-yard touchdown in 7-on-7s.

Christian Barmore and Jabrill Peppers appeared to suffer injuries at points during the session.
