It has been more than a decade since the horrifying Boston Marathon bombings left the country shaken. On April 15, 2013, the 117th Boston Marathon turned into a tragic event after two bombs exploded near the finish line. The city was immediately shut down while the police launched an intense manhunt to capture the bombers responsible for the attack. Netflix documentary American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing depicts the event, exploring the reason behind the bombings.

Per AP News, the Boston Marathon bombings killed three and left nearly 300 people injured. The aftermath saw the survivors being left with lifelong psychological as well as physiological impressions. The outlet added that 17 people lost their limbs in the bombings. Adrianne Haslet, a ballroom dancer, was one of them. She shared that she got a prosthetic left leg and learned to walk again. Moreover, Haslet vowed to start dancing again and made it her goal to run the marathon.

Who were the Boston Marathon bombing victims?

The Boston Marathon bombing victims were 29-year-old Krystle Campbell, 23-year-old Lingzi Lu, and 8-year-old Martin Richard, reported ABC News. Following the bombing, Officer Sean Collier lost his life during the manhunt for the bombers responsible for the attack, noted CBS News. A year later, Officer Dennis Simmonds succumbed to the injuries he suffered in 2013.

According to AP news, the youngest victim’s brother, Henry Richard, now participates in the marathon. As the healing continued, several other Boston Marathon bombing survivors, including family and friends, made the race an essential part of their lives as they continued to join in. Meanwhile, the city honors the tragedy’s victims, survivors, and the 2013 Boston Marathon’s first responders on One Boston Day.

The documentary American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing is available to stream on Netflix.
