Jordan Chiles Claps Back After Playful Jab From Simone Biles

Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles have completed alongside -- and sometimes against -- each other for a long time.

The pair helped the United States take home the team gold medal in the Paris Olympics and won silver together at the Tokyo Olympics. But there's a bit of disagreement between the 23-year-old Chiles and the 27-year-old Biles about who has the most influence.

In a light-hearted exchange after taking home gold, Biles tried to take credit for the style that Chiles brings to the competition.

"Girl, everything that Jordan does, she learned from me. Let's say that," she said, via reporter Emily Giambalvo on X .

"Ay, ay, ay, I had my own personality before I met you," Chiles replied.

"Watch my beam warmup and then watch Jordan's," Biles joked.

Biles has the chance to earn more medals, competing in the women's all-around final on August 1, the vault final on August 3, and the balance beam final on August 5.

Chiles missed out on the chance for an all-around medal, though thanks to an International Gymnastics Federation rule instead of her performance. Chiles had the fourth-best score in the preliminary round, but finished behind Team USA's Biles and Suni Lee. Only two gymnasts from each country are allowed to advance to the medal round, which left Chiles out.

Chiles will still have the chance to compete for a medal in the floor exercise final.
