    Livingston woman convicted of attempted murder of state trooper

    GALLATIN, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Columbia County District Attorney’s Office announced that a Livingston woman has been found guilty of numerous charges in an attempted murder case. Madison Kreutzer, 38, now faces five to 25 years in prison when she is sentenced.

    Kreutzer was found guilty of opening fire on a state trooper responding to a trespassing report at a home in Gallatin back in November of 2020. On August 29, she was convicted of the following charges:

    • Second-degree attempted murder
    • First-degree reckless endangerment
    • First-degree criminal trespass
    • Prohibitions on the use and possession of a firearm

    “We are gratified by the jury’s verdict and pleased to achieve justice for retired Zone Sgt. Paul
    Strobel,” said District Attorney Chris Liberati-Conant. “The jury sent a clear message that you do not shoot at police. I commend Chief Assistant Cheryl Botts for her work on this case.”

    “We want to thank the State Police for all of their support during the preparation for, and
    prosecution of this case,” said Cheryl Botts. “We could not have achieved this result without them.”

    Kreutzer was remanded to the Columbia County Jail. She is scheduled to be sentenced on December 5.
