HOWARD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A convicted felon was arrested near Niles after investigators looked through the window of a travel trailer and saw guns lying on the bed, deputies say.

On Monday, the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team got a tip about a felon who had several firearms in a travel trailer and might have also been selling narcotics, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Detectives found the trailer in Howard Township and conducted a traffic stop on the 2500 block of Lake Shore Drive, near Huntly Road, the release says.

Investigators say when they looked through a bedroom window, they were able to see several guns on the bed. The 40-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was arrested for felon in possession of firearms, according to the sheriff’s office.

When detectives executed a search warrant on the trailer, they say they found 21 guns — two of which were stolen — and a “large quantity” of ammunition.

The man was jailed on gun charges, the release says.
