GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A Gwinnett County bus driver is accused of causing a crash and then leaving the scene, leaving the victim seeking accountability.

David Horton was heading home from work when a Ride Gwinnett bus veered into his lane and collided with his truck on Jimmy Carter Boulevard.

Horton’s dash cam captured the incident, which showed the bus hitting his truck and then driving away with passengers on board.

Horton described his frustration when confronting the driver, saying, “You hit me, yes you did,” to which the driver responded there was “no way” she hit him.

The crash happened on May 21 at the intersection of Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Buford Highway in Norcross around 6 p.m.

Horton filed a hit-and-run police report with the Norcross Police Department and reached out to Channel 2 Action News, saying he feels ignored by Gwinnett County.

“Don’t just throw me to the side. And, you know, it’s almost like this happens every day,” Horton said. “Even though it’s a contractor, it is still Gwinnett County’s responsibility to make sure that is a safe driver on the road.”

Channel 2′s Matt Johnson contacted the county with the dashcam video.

A Gwinnett County employee said, “We are addressing this immediately.”

A Gwinnett spokesperson indicated that Transdev would need to comment on the matter.

Johnson reached out to Transdev on Thursday and is awaiting a response.

Horton, who is not pressing criminal charges, is just seeking accountability.

The accident, while not major, caused thousands of dollars in damage and required Horton to undergo physical therapy.
