Appliance Fire Causes ~$100,000 in Damage
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the 1500blk of Grandin Ave, off Broadwood Dr in Rockville on Wednesday for the report of a house fire. According to MCFRS Spokesperson Pete Piringer on Thursday morning, the fire started on an entertainment center with several potential ignition sources, including a television, VCR, cable box, and router. The fire was ruled accidental, but the specific appliance that caused it could not be determined.

Police called after assault at Rockville grocery store
Rockville City police were called to a grocery store at the King Farm Village Center, after an individual was allegedly assaulted there Saturday night, July 13, 2024. The assault was reported at the Safeway store at 403 Redland Boulevard at 9:05 PM. An individual was also accused of shoplifting in the same incident.

Gunfire strikes residence during Germantown shooting
Montgomery County detectives are investigating a shooting in Germantown on Wednesday night in which bullets struck a residence, according to police. Police said Thursday in a statement that a preliminary investigation revealed a residence was struck during the incident in the 20000 block of Staffordshire Drive and the shooting suspects had fled the scene. Germantown Teen Sentenced to Serve 15 Years in Fatal Shooting
A third co-defendant has been sentenced in a 2022 fatal shooting in Germantown, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office (MCSAO). Daylon Miller, 19, of Germantown, was sentenced Thursday to serve 15 years in prison and five years of probation after release. The judge recommended Miller be admitted to the Patuxent Youthful Offenders Program while incarcerated.
