‘Turandot’ Takes Centerstage in Washington National Opera’s ‘Opera in the Outfield’
Washington National Opera’s Opera in the Outfield returns to Nationals Park on August 24 with a screening of WNO’s sold-out production of “Turandot” from May 2024. The evening will be hosted by WNO General Director Timothy O’Leary and WNO Artistic Director Francesca Zambello and sponsored by Mars.
Officials break ground on new affordable housing
SCG Development held a groundbreaking event on July 17 for the first phase of a two-phase new affordable housing development in Northern Virginia. Somos at McLean Metro Phase A will be a new construction mid-rise multi-family rental housing community for lower-income households. Upon completion, Somos at McLean Metro – Phase A will create 231 new affordable homes in a high barrier-to-entry market walkable to the Metro.
Reston to celebrate 60th anniversary with community pool party
The town of Reston, one of the nation’s first planned communities, is preparing to mark a historic milestone after six decades of resilience and growth. Residents and leaders will gather at Lake Newport Pool on July 20 to commemorate the community's founding 60 years ago. The pool party will feature a DJ spinning tunes, raffle drawings, a cookout with complimentary food and non-alcoholic drinks, carnival games, and pool activities to cool down in the summer heat. Organizers are also asking residents to bring photos and stories to share on a “memory board” at the event.
