Midlothian (Tex.) interior offensive lineman Nelson McGuire decommitted from Minnesota at the end of June . The 6-foot-5, 320 pound prospect announced he was committed to the Gophers after a June recruiting weekend spent in Minneapolis. Now, he’s back on the market. And on Wednesday, Ole Miss extended an offer.
The offer was issued by offensive line coach John Garrison and Texas recruiting sharpshooters DJ Mann and Alex Brown. McGuire has already taken five official visits to Arkansas, Houston, Texas Tech, Minnesota and Kansas State. Florida has recently offered and the Razorbacks are pushing for another trip.
He is the No. 718 overall prospect in the 2025 class. On3’s Industry Ranking lists him as the 58th-ranked interior offensive lineman and Texas’ No. 109 recruit.
Nelson McGuire has received five official offers so far.
Arkansas, Baylor, Kansas State, Minnesota and Texas Tech have all made serious moves for the Texas lineman. And it seems Florida and Ole Miss aren’t too far behind. SMU, Houston and Boston College are also lingering.
Ole Miss has just two offensive line commits in its 2025 class. Three-stars Taren Hendrick and Kenneth Boston committed to the Rebels earlier this summer.
The Gators have piqued his interest and could be in line for a visit.
“Me and (player personnel) coach (David) Churba , he followed me on Twitter a while ago and before I was even supposed to commit. We were talking for a little bit,” McGuire told Gators Online.
“When I canceled my commitment, we started talking a little bit more and then I talked to the offensive line coach, coach (Rob) Sale . I ended up getting the offer down the line after that. (They said) they’re a real developmental team and they have some good coaching over there.”
