Back in May after Spring Ball ended at USC, defensive line coach Eric Henderson made the rounds visiting high schools in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Mississippi and Texas.

While in Florida, Coach Henny extended an offer to Loxahatchee (Fla.) Seminole Ridge prospect Ty Jackson , the No. 1 ranked linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class, per On3.

Although Jackson released a list of 10 schools in February consisting of Alabama , Florida , Florida State , Georgia , Miami , Oklahoma , Penn State , Syracuse , Tennessee and Texas A&M , the USC offer and continued relationship building with Coach Henderson led to Jackson setting up a USC visit for September 7.

“I just really want see what it’s about, because I talk to coach a lot and we’ve built really good relationship,” said Jackson. “He said I’d get a better feel seeing it in person. The first impression will be very important, but I’m ready for that.”

Jackson shared his thoughts on Coach Henderson about how USC plans to use him in D’Anton Lynn’s defense. Henderson is Jackson’s main contact at USC and the strength of his relationship with Henny has put the Trojans in the mix.

“He’s really positive, upfront and he’s honest for real for real,” Jackson said. “So, that’s why I like just how he keeps it real. They see me as a Will backer in their defense.”

    Commitment timeline

In the coming months or sooner, Jackson will begin narrowing down the list of schools he’s most serious about. After that, he’ll start planning a commitment date.

“I’ll be committing after the season,” Jackson said. “That’s the goal. Just finding the right spot for me. Best opportunity on and off the field. Not just playing early but developing, also.

“Before cutting the list down again, I want to see how teams play this season. Maybe around the middle of the season, I will start breaking things down from where I am right now. For now, my list is still the same.”

Jackson’s plan to take his time with the process is obviously a positive for USC as it continues building momentum in this race. He’s already taken official visits to Penn State (May 31-June 1), Georgia (June 7-8), Florida State (June 14-15), and Tennessee (June 21-22).

Prior to the USC visit, Jackson said he plans to visit Florida on August 31.

    On3 ranking

At 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, Jackson is ranked as the No. 1 linebacker and No. 25 overall prospect nationally, per On3. He is also ranked as the No. 4 overall recruit in the state of Florida this cycle.

During his first three seasons of high school football, Jackson has recorded 378 tackles, along with 15 tackles for a loss, six sacks, five forced fumbles, four interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

    Coach Chief’s comments on Jackson

Seminole Ridge coach Chad Chieffalo doesn’t hold back of his praise for Ty Jackson.

During his sophomore and junior years at Seminole Ridge, the star linebacker broke the school record for tackles, but the best is ahead for Jackson, Chieffalo says.

“Ty is an unbelievable football player. He is a phenomenal athlete who plays with such humility. He is everything you want athletically and off the field. He’s such a gifted athlete and an extremely hard worker.”

During his first three seasons of high school football, Jackson recorded 378 tackles, along with 15 tackles for a loss, six sacks, five forced fumbles, four interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
