Quarterbacks Taylen Green and Malachi Singleton have both been learning a new offense this offseason with Arkansas bringing back Bobby Petrino as their offensive coordinator following his previous stint as the Razorbacks’ head coach a little over a decade ago.

Singleton enters his second season with the Razorbacks after redshirting last year, while Green transferred in from Boise State this offseason as the team’s expected starting quarterback. But nonetheless, both have been impressed with the knowledge that Petrino has shared with them after taking over the offense.

“He’s really just so smart, like if you just had one meeting with him for an hour and a half, two hours he would really show you just how smart he is,” Singleton said during fall camp . “He knows so much ball he’s coached in the NFL, college. So he’s been around so much, worked with so many different quarterbacks. So just the reps, the knowledge he has, it’s just been great. It’s just been out of this world really.”

There aren’t many coaches in college football who have the experience and offensive acumen that Petrino possesses. With a coaching career that dates back to 1983 and features various head coaching and offensive coordinator jobs across the college and NFL levels.

Experience that he apparently been able to retain quite well even to this day.

“I would say that he has an answer to the test. Any questions that you got, that we got, he has the answers like that. Just doesn’t wait. He’ll pull up clips, ‘Pull up 2009 …’ And it’s that exact play and we’re like wow,” Green explained.

Green was a superb dual-threat quarterback during his time at Boise State. Bring physicality and athleticism to Arkansas’ offense at 6-foot-6, 230 pounds. Throwing for 3,657 yards and 24 touchdowns along with 903 yards on the ground and 17 rushing scores in the past two seasons.

Now joining forces with an OC who has everyone on the offense thinking on the same page.

“So I mean any questions that we have, or any questions that a receiver has, or tight end has, you know he has the answers,” Green said. “Then we have full trust in him and we do it and it works. So that’s what I love.”

Fans will get their first look at Green and Petrino’s new offense on August 29 when they host Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 7:30 p.m. ET in a game airing on ESPN.
