Somerville (N.J.) four-star EDGE and Tennessee commit Jayden Loftin will miss his senior season with an ACL injury, he announced on his Instagram Wednesday evening.

Somerville is scheduled to kick off its 2024 season against Hillsborough tonight.

“To Ville Football, Thank you for changing my life forever,” Loftin wrote. “Gave me a chance at something better for my life and blessed me with an amazing group of people to help me develop as a man overall. Finish the job boys go TAKE IT. Unfortunately I tore my ACL and will not be able to finish my senior year. God has prepared me for moments like this and i will not let it diminish my will and my love for the game. To Vol Nation, ill be back in top form ready to put on a show under the lights in Neyland.#GBO”

Loftin committed to Tennessee earlier this summer on June 12.

“I went into that visit with high interest in Tennessee because I liked the coaches and how they ran their program, then on the official visit, I got the feeling that it was the place for me,” Loftin told On3 . “Since I visited in the spring, I loved Tennessee and I knew it was the place for me on the visit.”

    Jayden Loftin Recruit Profile

Loftin is the nation’s No. 197 overall prospect, No. 22 EDGE and No. 5 recruit from New Jersey in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3 is higher on Loftin than the over major recruiting services. He ranks No. 158 nationally and 16th among edge rushers.

Loftin was one of the biggest risers in July’s update of the On300. On3 National Scout Cody Bellaire said this about Loftin at the time.

Jayden Loftin is another prospect that we were fired up to get verified athleticism and size for heading into their senior season. At nearly 6-foot-5, 245 pounds, Loftin laid down some tremendous explosive and agility numbers relative to his size and position group during the spring camp circuit. He has the rare combination of burst and bend from the EDGE position that so many defensive coaches covet with their pass rushers. Loftin proved this offseason that not only does he look the part, but he can play the part as well putting together one of the top workouts from any edge defender that participated in an Under Armour camp during the offseason. And as one of the younger prospects in the 2025 class, Loftin’s upside is certainly as high as anyone’s in the EDGE group.”
