Just 12 of the teams in the On3 Massey Ratings top 25 took the field over the weekend, but there was still plenty of action and surprising results across the nation.
Corner Canyon (Utah) improved to 2-0 in impressive fashion, defeating IMG Academy (Fla.) at home in perhaps the biggest win of the week. No. 1 Mater Dei (Calif.) held serve against Centennial (Calif.), while St. John Bosco (Calif.) and Bishop Gorman (Nev.) both won ranked matchups on the road in Florida.

The final few opening weeks around the nation — highlighted by Texas — are set for this week. More must-see matchups are right around the corner. Below is the updated On3 Massey Ratings top 25 , as of Aug. 26.
The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

In a battle between two of the best in the Golden State, Mater Dei bested a game Centennial team, 42-25. Washington quarterback commit Dash Beierly threw two touchdowns in his first start, while Oregon running back pledge Jordon Davison and Ohio State wide receiver commit Chris Henry Jr. each found pay dirt. The Monarchs now have an early bye week as they gear up for a massive showdown against Bishop Gorman on Sept. 6.

Texas football will begin this week, but Duncanville doesn’t begin its regular season until Sept. 6 on the road at South Oak Cliff (Texas). The Panthers have won back-to-back state titles for the first time in school history and will be top candidates to add another trophy to the mantle this season. Oregon receiver commit Dakorien Moore is the top WR prospect in the nation, while Alabama QB commit Keelon Russell is the No. 3 signal-caller in the senior class.

After going undefeated in 2023 and also claiming a second consecutive state title, DeSoto will begin its regular season this Saturday as a massive favorite, taking on Creekside (Ga.). Texas A&M running back pledge Deondrae Riden , the nation’s No. 17 RB, and SMU WR commit Daylon Singleton headline DeSoto’s offense.

The Braves fought past Chaminade-Madonna (Fla.) 34-27 in a top-25 matchup at St. Thomas Aquinas High in Florida that featured a myriad of penalties. Sophomore running back Maliq Blackwell-Allen scampered for a 71-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that proved to be the difference. Bosco will play its first home game on Friday, hosting Eastwood (Texas).

The Dragons will open their 2024 season on Friday at home against Midland (Texas). Carroll will also boast a potent offense, headed by Tennessee 4-star tight end commit Jack Van Dorselaer , USC three-star running back commit Riley Wormley and 2026 TCU four-star WR pledge Brock Boyd . Carroll is one of just three schools that ranked in the preseason top five for both offensive and defensive power.

North Shore begins the season at home against South Oak Cliff (Texas) on Friday. Still searching for its first championship since 2021, the Mustangs will be led by Ohio State Five-Star Plus+ CB commit Devin Sanchez , the No. 5 prospect in the 2025 cycle. LSU linebacker commit Charles Ross and Colorado WR commit Quanell Farrakhan Jr . also highlight the roster as top blue-chippers.

Down 21-10 in the third quarter, the Gaels rallied for 19 unanswered points to defeat St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) on the road, 29-21. A pair of costly late interceptions by Aquinas helped propel Gorman to the finish line. LSU wide receiver commit Derek Meadows hauled in a 41-yard touchdown pass to kick off his senior season. Now 2-0, Gorman is also idle this week as it prepares to head to No. 1 Mater Dei on Sept. 6.

Not many expected Corner Canyon to be able to hang with Florida powerhouse IMG Academy last Thursday, despite the game being in Draper, Utah. Not only did the Chargers hang, they won a 35-34 thriller. Junior quarterback Helaman Casuga continued to ascent into the national spotlight, while wide receiver Jerome Myles proved his worth as one of the nation’s top pass-catchers with three touchdowns. A trip to Lone Peak , the No. 2 team in Utah, awaits this Friday.

Atascocita begins its season on Friday at home against Houston Lamar . Projected to have one of the nation’s top defenses, the Eagles will battle the best of the best in Texas this season after winning 11 games a season ago and will be led by Oklahoma running back commit Tory Blaylock on offense.

10. Bixby – Okla.
The Spartans have now collected six consecutive Oklahoma state titles and are showing no signs of relenting. Dominating in Division II before moving up to Division I in 2022 and continuing to win, Bixby is the only Oklahoma program in the Massey Ratings top 100. Auburn four-star offensive tackle commit Broderick Shull and the Spartans begin their season on Friday at Owasso (Okla.).
