Shafter Boxing Club shines at Olympics
The Shafter Boxing Club traveled to Wichita, Kansas, last weekend to compete in the National Junior Olympics. Mike Ayon, the director of the club, took 10 boxers for the competition and they came home with five medals, two silver and three bronze, making it the most successful Olympics for the local boxers in its history.

WICHITA, Kan. — Hutchinson High School graduate, Caleb Walker, will once again compete in The Basketball Tournament this weekend for the AfterShocks. Walker graduated from Hutch High in 2008 before going on to play two seasons at Butler Community College in El Dorado and then his final two seasons at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
Conference pairings set for 2024-25 Shocker men’s basketball season
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The American Athletic Conference has unveiled the home-away pairings for the 2024-25 Wichita State men’s basketball season. The league will once again conduct an 18-game schedule with each team assigned six home-and-home series, plus three home-only and three road-only opponents .The Shockers will not visit UAB, East Carolina or Tulane this season, while Florida Atlantic, Rice and Temple miss out on a trip to the Roundhouse. Matchups are annually determined by television inventory and contractual requirements, competitive issues/NET implications and geographic rivalries.
