HCC earns the prestigious 2024 KBOR Data Quality Award
At the June Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) 2024 Data Quality and Planning Conference, KBOR President and CEO, Dr. Blake Flanders, presented Data Quality Awards to Highland Community College and Wichita State University Technical College (Wichita Tech). Jeff Hurn, HCC Director of Institutional Research was in attendance to receive the award.

Today the AWESOME hails from Wichita. I’m talking about YouTube star MrBeast. He’s known for his charitable initiatives and giving. He had funded surgeries, given away homes, planted 20-million trees and more. Now, he took his talents to the oceans of the world. He announced this week that his TeamSeas initiative has successfully removed over 34-million pounds of trash from the ocean. The project, launched by MrBeast and fellow YouTuber Mark Rober in October 2021, aimed to raise $30-million to remove 30-million pounds of trash from the world’s oceans and rivers. Two days ago, MrBeast shared that TeamSeas exceeded their goal, removing 34,080,191 pounds of trash from oceans worldwide. With all his kindness and giving, a lot of people are wondering what he plans to do next. Giving back in a big way thanks to his success, MrBeast, THAT’S AWESOME.

DA rules on Kansas high school baseball animal cruelty case
SEDGWICK COUNTY —In April, USD 262 Valley Center suspended the schools baseball season due to an investigation of alleged animal cruelty after a chicken was killed on the baseball field at the high school before a game, according to the Valley Center Department of Public Safety. IdeaTek expands to Ark City
ARKANSAS CITY, Kansas — Super-fast fiber internet service will soon be available to hundreds of Arkansas City families and businesses, thanks to IdeaTek. The Buhler-based internet company will begin construction in August. By fall, IdeaTek will begin delivering unlimited and uncapped speeds of up to 2.5 gigabits per second to the city’s first few neighborhoods. IdeaTek's 100-percent fiber investment of nearly $6 million will connect over 6,100 homes and businesses to fiber.
