NBA veteran Cameron Payne faced legal trouble last month after allegedly providing false information to police during an investigation.

It was newly revealed Tuesday according to TMZ Sports that Payne, who most recently played for the Philadelphia 76ers, initially told officers his name was "Terry Johnson."

This claim arose during an incident involving an argument with his girlfriend in Arizona, prompting Payne to contact law enforcement at around 3 a.m. on June 14.

Police arrived at the scene, where Payne and his girlfriend informed them that the dispute was verbal and did not require police intervention.

However, when officers requested Payne's identification for their records, he reportedly became uncooperative.

Police allege that Payne initially claimed his name was “Terry Johnson” and persisted in providing false information despite warnings of potential arrest. Eventually, he allegedly provided his real name but immediately recanted, insisting, “No, that’s my fake name; can you please leave?”

As a result, Payne was arrested and booked on charges of refusing to provide a truthful name and filing a false report to law enforcement. He was later released from custody.
