A Phoenix man has been sentenced to three life sentences in the murder of his parents and his brother three years ago.

Brandon Michael Lujan, 37, was convicted in June in Maricopa County Superior Court of three counts of first-degree murder. His sentence does not include the possibility of parole, according to a release from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

Media reports from the time listed the victims as Lewis Lujan, 63; Irene Lujan, 56; and Mathew Lujan, 30.

Phoenix Police began the investigation after they were called to a local hosital where Lujan had told staff he had killed his family the night before, shooting his brother first before shooting his parents. He told police he fired so many shots he stopped to reload his gun, according to the press release.

Investigators said the shooting stemmed from Lujan and his wife, Raylien Loest, having been recently kicked out of Lujan’s parents’ house. Loest drove the car with Lujan and their two daughters after the shooting. She was convicted and sentenced to three years in prison in the case, according to the release.

“To murder your family in such a deliberate, callous manner and express no remorse shows a remarkable lack of humanity,” said County Attorney Rachel Mitchell in the press release. “I am thankful to the prosecutors in this case who ensured this dangerous individual is never released.”
