CHARLOTTE ( PINPOINT WEATHER ) – We’ll be heating up this week as temperatures make a run for the mid-90s and ‘feels-like’ temperatures land in the upper 90s.

This morning starts off slightly warmer with mid to upper 60s on tap from the mountain counties into uptown. Skies are mostly clear with patchy fog developing in some of our mountain valleys.

Highs will ramp up this week with Tuesday making a run for the mid-90s. We’ll sit under mostly sunny skies as winds flow out of the west-southwest between 3 and 8 miles per hour.

Lows tonight will be warm, only dipping into the low 70s heading into Wednesday. High pressure will continue to drive the forecast with more heat on the way through mid-week.

Humidity will return and the mid-90s will feel more like the upper 90s through Thursday and Friday.

A cold front will approach the Carolinas on Thursday after we peak in the mid-90s yet again. Look for rain and storm chances to finish off the work week and linger into the weekend as a summer-like pattern takes hold.

We’ll settle in the upper 80s and host afternoon storms through Monday of next week.

    WEATHER ALERTS: CODE ORANGE

The NC Department of Environmental Quality has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for Ground Level Ozone for Catawba, Iredell, Rowan, Lincoln, Gaston, Mecklenburg, and Cabarrus counties until 8 p.m. Tuesday. For more on weather alerts in our area, click here!
