After a tumultuous offseason, the Quincy High football program is hoping that new coach Ed DeWitt can bring some stability.

DeWitt is a 2004 Quincy High graduate and is a member of the Quincy/North Quincy Football Hall of Fame. He coached at Oliver Ames for the past five seasons. The Tigers were 1-9 last season and 4-7 in 2022. DeWitt began his coaching career with the Quincy Point Panthers youth program. He also served as an assistant at Division 3 Curry College in Milton from 2010-12.

Former New England Patriots player Vernon Crawford went 3-8 with the Presidents in 2023 in what turned out to be his lone season at the helm. (Crawford had replaced Kevin Carey, who had run the program for the previous five years.) The school initially named former Randolph coach Keith Ford as acting head coach in January but had to pivot again when Ford stepped down a few days later after he said his appointment had been "resoundingly unsupported by the community."

The Presidents got off to a 2-0 start last fall but won only once more, beating Newton North, 52-50, in overtime in Week 10. Quincy ended its season with a 43-20 loss to North Quincy on Thanksgiving.
