    Pinpoint Weather: Storm chances continue, more heat

    ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) – Showers and storms are possible through the overnight hours. Instability will be dropping, but a strong to severe storm is not out of the question. The best chance for storms will be in the New River Valley, though a few can’t be ruled out west of the Blue Ridge.

    Storms could move in during the overnight hours, dropping into North Carolina by sunrise. Hit-or-miss storms are possible during the afternoon.

    Storms are possible as heat builds during the afternoon. High temperatures are expected in the 80s and 90s after starting in the 60s and 70s.

    Storms could happen anywhere in the region during the afternoon hours. A couple of strong to severe storms are possible with strong winds being the main threat.

    A daily chance for storms will continue through Saturday. For Sunday and Monday, rain chances are lower with better chances close to the North Carolina border. Temperatures will remain in the low to mid-90s with lows in the 70s.
