    Man acts in self defense during stabbing on Sawyer St.

    ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Officers with the Rochester Police Department received reports of a stabbing Friday evening on Sawyer Street near Wellington Avenue in Rochester. When they arrived to the scene, officers located a 61-year-old man from Rochester who had at least one stab wound to his lower body.

    According to the RPD, the investigation revealed this was a domestic menacing where the suspect menaced the victim with a hammer during an argument.

    “The victim of the menacing, a 30-year-old male, acted in self-defense when he stabbed the suspect,” officers said. “The victim of the menacing was uninjured.”

    Officers took the suspect into custody and had AMR take the suspect to Strong Memorial Hospital. The suspect’s injuries are not considered life-threatening. Upon his discharge from SMH, he will be transported to Monroe County Jail.
