ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A man was accused of driving a stolen Kia with drugs and a loaded gun on Ravine Avenue late Wednesday night.

The Rochester Police Department was called to the old subway bed on Ravine Avenue for a ShotSpotter activation. Officers witnessed a gray Kia on the railroad tracks, which drove away fast without its headlights on.

Officers said they saw the car pull over on Santee Street and two males ran away. One of the suspects was found hiding in a boat in the backyard of a Warner Street home.

The investigation revealed the car was stolen from Mt. Hope Avenue on Tuesday. Police said they found a loaded handgun, high-capacity magazines, ammo, and suspected fentanyl.

20-year-old Sharee Smith was charged with second and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was taken to the Monroe County Jail.

RPD did not find the second suspect involved in this incident and is asking anyone with information to call 911.
