Sheriff: Hay bale incident kills 35-year-old Rockville man

PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Rockville man has died after being crushed by a large square bale of hay.

That’s according to a release from the Parke County Sheriff’s Office, who said the incident occurred on Thursday shortly after noon in “rural Rockville.”

When deputies arrived on scene they found “James Stratis, 35, of Rockville deceased under a large square bale of hay,” the release states.

The Parke County Coroner’s Office, Bellmore Fire Department, Adams Township Rescue, and Parke County EMS also responded to the scene.

“An investigation was conducted at the scene and no foul play was suspected,” The release notes.
