Shoplifter takes beer…and an onion
Ruston Police arrested a local man last week after he allegedly shoplifted cases of beer from the Neighborhood Walmart. Officers were called to the store about 8 a.m. on July 8 where they were told a man wearing a red shirt and red plaid pants had taken items from the store without paying. An officer on patrol spotted a suspect matching the description a few blocks away. George Anthony, 51, of Ruston, was arrested and returned to the store.

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - One Arkansas man was found guilty of simple arson, and another man’s charges were dropped in the case of a 2021 mobile home fire in Choudrant. Louisiana State Fire Marshal deputies arrested Austin Triplet and James Maxwell, both of Arkansas, in June of 2021 after a mobile home fire in March of 2021 was found to have been intentionally set.

The decision on the Arcadia Fire Department merging with the North Bienville Fire Department is still up in the air. Arcadia Mayor O’Landis Millican recently met with NBFD Board Chairman William “Bill” Sims, Fire Chief Antoine Hampton, Board Member Mylan Shepherd and Bienville Parish Police Jury Secretary Treasurer Rodney Warren.
