RUSTON, La (KTVE/KARD) – As the saying goes, good things take time. That is the case with the progress of Ruston’s highly anticipated convenience store and soon-to-be popular tourist attraction Buc-ee’s.

The Mayor of Ruston, Ronny Walker, reassured residents that although the process of getting Buc-ees to Ruston is lengthy, there is no doubt that progress on the convenience store is moving forward. KTVE/KARD spoke to Walker regarding the latest updates.

We still very confident that groundbreaking will be some time this year and construction will take about twelve to fifteen months.

Walker stated that all parties involved with the Buc-ees meet weekly to discuss the project. He recalled to KTVE/KARD an exciting factor he learned about the project in a recent meeting.

DOTD is telling us there probably will be fifteen thousand cars stop a day. These people are traveling and some of them are going to want to stop and see some things. Some of them are gone have a graduating senior in their car and say hey lets drive through Grambling and Louisiana Tech. So, it’s a big plus and very exciting to me what can happen because of that.

Those involved with the project estimate that Buc-ees will bring around 250 jobs for locals. KTVE /KARD discussed the possible benefits of Buc-ees with Walker.

We know that other stuff will come with Buc-ees and that will also add more jobs. So, it’s a great win not just for the city of Ruston but Lincoln Parish and the entire North Louisiana.
