Washington, D.C. Unites Against Crime: National Night Out 2024

It was a fun night in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, as residents celebrated National Night Out, an annual event in the nation's capital city. The National Association of Town Watch sponsors the event which takes place each year on the first Tuesday in August.

The Metrolpolitan Police Department joins with thousands of residents, government and nonprofit agencies, and other community leaders as they celebrate National Night Out.

There were community cookouts, open houses, block parties, candlelight vigils, and athletic events which are part of the National Night Out.

Events were going on in various parts of Washington, D.C. with the main event at Sycamore and Oak from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

This is America's Night Out Against Crime. The event is held to heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention and to gain support for programs to fight crime. They also want to send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and will fight against crime.
