Spring began only weeks ago in San Diego County, but temperatures in the low deserts will approach the 100-degree mark this weekend, the National Weather Service says.

Borrego Springs is expected to reach 96 on Saturday and Sunday, and temperatures in Ocotillo Wells will climb to the 97-to-98-degree range. The seasonal high for both areas is about 5 to 7 degrees cooler.

The winds will be light all weekend, eliminating the chance of swirling sand.

If skies remain clear, it will be possible to watch the International Space Station fly overhead for five minutes on Saturday night, starting at 9:28 p.m. The orbiting outpost will first appear 10 degrees above the western horizon.

Forecasters say that "May gray" clouds will keep temperatures slightly below average at the coast. San Diego's daytime high Saturday and Sunday is expected to be 68. The seasonal high is 70.
