Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry weighed in on the highly publicized rap battle between two of the genre's biggest stars, Drake and Kendrick Lamar. The 36-year-old point guard discussed various topics during an interview with GQ’s Joseph Bien-Kahn , where he was subsequently asked about his thoughts on the fierce rivalry between the two rappers.

“I’m a big Drake guy. I’ve been for a long time. I think obviously you know what it is for the rap industry to have that, but I still rock with Drake. Absolutely. Absolutely,” the 2022 NBA Finals MVP stated.

Curry was mentioned in one of Lamar's diss tracks against Drake, "Meet the Grahams," where the Compton native warned the two-time NBA MVP and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James to stay away from Drake. In the track, Lamar accused the Canadian musician of being involved with underage girls.

"Ayy, LeBron keep the family away. Hey Curry, keep the family away," the 17-time Grammy Award winner rapped around the 2:59 mark of the track.

Drake Mentions Stephen Curry In Several Songs

The 37-year-old musician has mentioned Curry in several of his tracks over the past decade, with the first reference coming in 2014 on "0 to 100 / The Catch Up." This was one of the earliest instances of a mainstream rapper acknowledging Curry while he was on the rise as a star in the league during this time.

"I been Steph Curry with the shot. Been cookin' with the sauce, Chef Curry with the pot, boy."

Drake referenced Curry again on his 2016 track "Still Here" from the album Views, although in a more subtle way released during the former Davidson star's unanimous MVP season in 2015-16.

"Hittin' like that 30 on my jersey, man, I'm gifted."

Curry's wife, Ayesha, was not spared from being mentioned in one of the five-time Grammy Award-winner's songs. In his 2021 track "Race My Mind" from the album Certified Lover Boy, Drake praised Ayesha for being a "wife material."

"How I'm supposed to wife it? You not Ayesha enough."
