    San Gabriel’s Smith Park Pool now open

    The Smith Park pool is now open to the public during Recreation Swim times until Aug. 3, offering a refreshing escape from the heat.

    Recreation swims are Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m., Fridays from 1 to 3:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The wading pool is free for all ages and is available Monday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and during recreation swim hours.

    Kids up to age 17 must pay $2 and adults 18 and older face a $3 fee. Only exact cash or Visa or MasterCard is accepted. All card transactions will incur a 2.9% credit card processing fee.

    Pool Guidelines:

    • All swimmers must wear swimsuits. Cutoffs, basketball shorts, etc., will not be permitted in the water.
    • Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
    • Bag check is available for personal belongings.
    • No food, drinks, or coolers will be allowed on the pool deck.

    Swim Lessons:

    • Fees: $45 per person, per cycle
    • Register by phone or in person in the Community Services Department at 626-308-2875.
    • To sign up for Level 2 or higher, you must present a report card from the city of San Gabriel stating that your child passed the previous level.
    • Registration is only permitted for one cycle at a time.
    • Children must be registered by a parent or legal guardian.
    • No refunds for swim classes.
    • No classes will be held on July 4.
