Newhall Man Arrested For Murder

A Newhall man who committed a gang-related shooting in 2019 was arrested Wednesday for murder, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Omar Garcia Ramirez, 24, of Newhall, was arrested Wednesday on murder charges and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, where bail was set at $3.3 million, according to arrest records.

Officials from the SCV Sheriff’s Station could not be reached for comment as to the time and location of the crime, nor the identity of any victims.

Ramirez had previously been arrested in connection with a shooting in Newhall in December 2019 .

On Dec. 18, 2019, , deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to reports of a shooting on the 24100 block of Arch Street in Newhall. Ramirez allegedly used a .22 caliber handgun to shoot one shot in the air during the course of an attempted carjacking.

The shooting ocurred the morning after one of Ramirez’ female relatives was arrested for stabbing her boyfriend at a nearby address.
