Reporter Confronts Megan Rapinoe Over Support For Trans Athletes at Pride Parade

A reporter confronted soccer star Megan Rapinoe for her stance on trans athletes competing in women’s sports at a pride parade on Sunday.

Rapinoe attended the Seattle Pride Parade with her partner and former WNBA star Sue Bird . As they went down the parade route in a car, Post Millennial reporter Katie Daviscourt walked up to grill Rapinoe about her support for her trans athletes.

“Your U.S. women’s soccer team famously lost to high school boys,” Raviscourt said. “Do you really think it’s fair for these same boys to be competing in girls sports? Do you think it’s fair? Why should trans people compete against young girls? Do you not think that they’re gonna get hurt? Are they gonna get hurt? I’m a journalist. I just wanna know.”

When Raviscourt began with the mentioning of the national team losing to a high school boys team, Rapinoe let out a laugh and ignored the rest of her questions. It also got the attention of Bird, who turned to Raviscourt before also ignoring her.

Sensing that the questions were confrontational, a security guard then got between Raviscourt and the couple.

Rapinoe has been outspoken in her support for trans athletes in the past. Last July, she called the pushback she received “total bullshit” and claimed critics of her and her stance don’t actually care about women’s sports.
