49ers, Seahawks set for best uniform matchup of the 2024 season during primetime encounter

Over the years, games between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks have been appointment viewing. That might not be considered to have been the case of late, with the Niners dominating the rivalry with five successive wins including the postseason.

But their Week 6 primetime matchup will be a treat for the eyes.

The 49ers will face the Seahawks in Seattle on Thursday Night Football, and they will be hoping for a repeat of their successive road wins at Lumen Field on the same day, the latest being a blowout win on Thanksgiving night .

In both of those wins, the Niners wore their white road 1994 throwbacks, and they confirmed on Thursday that they will do again for this matchup.

San Francisco, which also wore those uniforms in their dramatic Week 18 win on the road in Seattle in 2019 that clinched the one seed in the NFC after going down to a goal-line stop on the final play, won't be the only team sporting a retro look in the game.

The announcement c omes on the heels of the Seahawks confirming they would wear their 1990s home throwback uniforms, which have been widely praised as a triumph.

It's tough to imagine there will be a more aesthetically pleasing matchup in the entire season than the 49ers and Seahawks playing under the lights in Seattle in those respective uniforms.

We're still just under three months away from the latest episode in the rivalry, but we already know that, regardless of result, it will be a joy to watch from at least one perspective.
