Autopsies Were Scheduled for Monday Following Fatal Head-On Crash Friday In Carmi
Autopsies were scheduled for Monday in Springfield following a fatal accident just outside Carmi Friday. Illinois State Police say just before one o’clock, a 2000 Maroon Ford Mustang was southbound on Route 1 approaching White County Rd 1350 North while a 2023 white Kia Forte was northbound at the same location. The vehicles collided head-on near the center of the roadway. The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead on scene. A passenger in the Mustang, identified as 28-year-old Kenny Ripley from O’Fallon, MO was taken to an Evansville hospital with injuries. He suffered a broken arm, leg and foot as a result of the crash and was due for surgery Monday morning. Heavy rain and wind was reported at the time of the crash. Funeral services have been set for the driver of the Mustang killed in the crash, 26-year-old Stormy Baker of Norris City. A SpotFund has been set up to assist the family with expenses.
